EASING TO VICTORY
The Mountain Lions scored a season-high 93 points in a 93-77 victory over Alderson Broaddus Saturday afternoon. Freshman forward
Abbie Smith notched her third career 20-point game on 9-of-10 shooting while junior guard
Jaisah Smith recorded 14 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and a career-best eight steals for her first career double-double. It was the first 15-10-5-5 game for a CU player since Jolysa Brown went for 28 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and five steals against Glenville State in March 2012. Over the last two games, Concord has only trailed for a total of 1:54—all at Notre Dame. And it marked the second time this season that the Maroon and Gray has won back-to-back games by double digits. CU won at Frostburg State and at Emory & Henry by 11 points each.
EQUAL PARTS
While A. Smith and J. Smith stole the headlines for Concord against Alderson Broaddus, three other Mountain Lions finished in double figures. Graduate guard
Maggie Guynn knocked in three three-pointers on her way to scoring 15 points. Junior guard
Nakaila Gray netted 11 points and junior guard
Maddie Ratcliff matched Gray by scoring her most points since January 2 at Emory & Henry when she scored 12. It marked the second time this season that CU had five players score in double figures—the other was at home versus Notre Dame. The 93 points were the most in a regulation game for Concord in nearly a year to the day—January 31, 2022 versus Salem. The 25 assists for the Mountain Lions Saturday were the most since handing out 28 versus Glenville State February 2021.
AT THE FINISH LINE
Guynn suits up in her 123
rd game Wednesday night which is top 30 among active Division II players and second in program history behind the 132 games that
Riley Fitzwater played in. With her career games left numbered, the Pearisburg, Virginia native has been coming on strong down the stretch of the season. Since a span of five games from December 6 through January 2 that saw her score just 22 points, Guynn is averaging 14.8 points per game while shooting 39.5 percent from three-point range. Additionally, she has hit 17 of her 27 three-pointers for the season over the last seven games, and is 19-of-20 at the foul line over that time. Guynn is 58 points shy of 1,500 for her career.
RALLY TIME
Concord has only won one game this season when trailing at halftime—at Frostburg State in December, 74-63 in overtime. It also marked the first time that the road team has won in the six-game series between the sides. The Mountain Lions erased an eight-point halftime deficit as it exploded for 23 points in the third quarter. J. Smith was instrumental in forcing overtime as she scored two buckets in the final 15 seconds of the fourth quarter as part of her team-best 16 points. A. Smith netted 13 points. Senior guard
Ashton Funderburg scored seven of her season-high nine points in the third quarter to help key the rally. Senior guard
Jazz Blankenship also pitched in nine points.
CLAMPING DOWN
The Mountain Lions have been tenacious on the defensive end of the floor in six games versus Frostburg State. In five of the six, CU has held the Bobcats to less than 35 percent shooting, including 30 percent or less in four contests. Earlier this season, Concord only hit on 40.7 percent of its shots. However, FSU only found the bottom of the net on 30.4 percent. Last season at the Carter Center in a 78-47 CU win, the Bobcats were held to 27.4 percent shooting. Already riding a hot streak entering play this week, the Maroon and Gray defense has limited oppositions to 40 percent shooting or less in three straight and four of the last six games.
FRESHMEN PHENOMS
While Frostburg State's Emilee Weakley is most likely the clubhouse leader for MEC Freshman of the Year, A. Smith has been coming on strong. She needed just 18 minutes to score her 20 points versus Alderson Broaddus. That was after she went for 13 points and a career-best 18 rebounds at Notre Dame. Over the last seven games, A. Smith is averaging 14.8 points per game while shooting 68.8 percent (42-for-61) from the field. Weakley, the MEC's leading scorer, is netting 23.4 points per game. Concord harassed Weakley into needing 23 shots (7-of-23) to score 18 points in December. She did add 12 rebounds in the first meeting. A. Smith has gone 11 straight games scoring in double figures.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
6- Three-pointers needed by Guynn to move into sixth place on the program's all-time three-point list, passing former teammate Emily Boothe. Guynn has 159 triples.
8- Steals by J. Smith against Alderson Broaddus were a single-game program record.
56- Points scored by Concord in the second half versus Alderson Broaddus—the most points in any half this season.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Rhiana Hall was FSU's leading scoring in the December game as she post 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting that included four three-pointers. Hall averages 9.1 points per game while Maggie Sharp (11.2 points) is the only other Frostburg State player netting double figures. The Bobcats have lost three straight games, but the last win for FSU came on the road at West Virginia Wesleyan January 18. Former Shepherd coach Jenna Eckleberry is in her first season at FSU after leading the Rams to 25 wins and an NCAA Tournament berth last season.
