SUPERLATIVE GAME
In a double overtime loss to Alderson Broaddus, Concord scored a season-best 100 points. It was the first time the Maroon and Gray topped the century mark since March 1, 2021 versus Davis & Elkins in a game that also went to double overtime, a 107-100 victory for the Mountain Lions. CU also set season bests in three-pointers made (13), free throws made (29) and blocks (nine). Senior guard Ethan Heller drilled an individual season-high five three-pointers as he went over 170 made triples in his career. Senior forward Jevon Laidler swatted four shots in the game to establish a career high in blocks. It was the first four-block game for a CU player since fifth-year senior Da'Vion Moore had a four-block game in the third contest of the 2021-22 season versus Bluefield State.

THREE'S COMPANY
Heller tallied a season-best 25 points versus Alderson Broaddus. Junior guard JJ Harper tied his career high with 21 points and graduate guard Lual Daniel Rahama continued his tear with his eighth double-double of the season in scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Saturday marked the second straight season that CU has had three 20-point scorers versus Alderson Broaddus. Laidler (23 points) and junior guard Jordan Wooden (20) were part of the trio of players last year that put up 20 or more points against AB. Heller's five three-pointers versus the Battlers were his most since knocking in six three-pointers versus Davis & Elkins March 2021. For Rahama, it was his fourth 20-point game in the last five.

DON'T ADD UP
Saturday was a bit of a statistically anomaly game for the Mountain Lions. CU had been 4-0 in game in which it hit 40 percent or better of its three-point attempts in wins at Alderson Broaddus, at Clarion at West Virginia Wesleyan and home against Fairmont State. And Concord was 5-1 in games that it had stepped up to the foul line at least 25 times with road victories over Bluefield State, Ohio Dominican, Wesleyan and Wheeling as well as a home win over Notre Dame. The Maroon and Gray made more field goals than AB (32-31) and more three-pointers (13-10) than the Battlers, but Alderson Broaddus had a 29-23 edge in scoring at the free-throw stripe.

PAINT THE LANE
In a 93-82 win over Frostburg State December 10, Concord scored 48 points in the paint and shot 64.8 percent (24-for-37) in the lane. Additionally, CU crossed over the 50 percent shooting (53.8) mark versus the Bobcats—just one of four times this season that the Mountain Lions have shot 50 percent or better. Moore scored three of his four buckets in the paint as he went 4-for-4 from the floor for nine points. Seven of the eight field goals for Rahama were in the lane on his way to 19 points. Wooden scored 10 points—all on shots in the paint. FSU scored 38 points in the paint, but needed 40 shots. Concord did make eight three-pointers in the game, led by three triples from sophomore forward Amare Smith as part of his 11 points.

TOP TWO
Wednesday's game features the top two individual rebounders in the MEC in Rahama and Frostburg State's Jason Murphy. Rahama is the only player in the MEC averaging a double-double (17.2 points, 10.1 rebounds). His eight double-doubles are tied for fifth in Division II. Murphy, a Division I transfer from NJIT, also collected his eighth double-double of the season with his best game in a Frostburg State jersey—a 27-point, 15 rebound game at West Virginia State. Murphy is second in the MEC with 9.0 rebounds per game. Rahama added nine rebounds to go with his 19 points at Frostburg State. Murphy recorded 11 points, but needed 10 shots, and grabbed nine rebounds.

THE START OF SOMETHING
After hitting 10 three-pointers at Notre Dame last week, the Mountain Lions have made double-digit three-pointers in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Saturday also marked the first time this year that CU has made 37 percent or better from three-point range in consecutive games. Though Concord was held to 34.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc (8-for-23) at Frostburg State, the Bobcats are 11th in the MEC in three-point defense (39.2 percent). And entering Wednesday, FSU has allowed the opponent to shoot 40 percent or better from three-point distance in six of the last seven games. The Maroon and Gray has been held to less than 35 percent shooting from deep in all six all-time meetings with Frostburg State.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
3- Three-pointers needed by Heller to break into the top 10 in program history as he currently sits at 172.

4- Blocks by Laidler versus AB were the second-most in an MEC game this season.

20- Rebounding margin for CU (44-24) at Frostburg State in December, its best of the season.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Frostburg State, like Alderson Broaddus previously coming into the Carter, is off its biggest win of the season, a 78-73 road upset of West Virginia State who was ranked 24th nationally. Frostburg State outrebounded West Virginia State 46-32 and survived 12 three-pointers by the Yellow Jackets. Tairell Fletcher averages 17.5 points per game which is seventh in the MEC. Agyei Edwards nets 14.2 points per game. The win at West Virginia State snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Bobcats.
