HEAT IT UP
In the defeat to the Golden Eagles, CU shot a season-best 51.1 percent which was also the best shooting percentage since late February last season at West Virginia State. Junior guard
Jaisah Smith had her most efficient game as a Mountain Lion as she hit 6-of-7 shots and scored 15 points in the process. It was her ninth game of the season scoring in double figures. Freshman forward
Abbie Smith was above the 50 percent mark as she hit on 5-of-9 attempts and posted 14 points. Junior forward
Lauryn Avery and junior guard
Nakaila Gray each went 3-for-5 from the floor. It was the second time in the last three seasons that Concord hit 50 percent or more of its shots at Charleston.
DEEP THREAT
Graduate guard
Maggie Guynn came into Wednesday's action needing three three-pointers to reach 150 for her career. The Pearisburg, Virginia native became the seventh player in program history to reach the milestone as she made three triples in the first quarter. Overall, Guynn made a career-best five three-pointers in the game. The five three-pointers were the most for a CU player since Keely Lundy drained five at home against Glenville State in February 2020. By scoring 19 points at Charleston, Guynn is just three points away from topping 1,400 for her career. For the first time since last January, J. Smith hit a three-pointer in consecutive games as she made her only attempt in the fourth quarter at UC.
BACK TO BUSINESS
The Concord bench was held in check at Charleston. Heading into Wednesday's game, the CU reserves had gone 11 consecutive games scoring at least 20 points. However, Concord's bench was limited to five points. At home against Glenville State last season, the Mountain Lions' bench combined for 22 points with graduate forward
Alexis Phillips leading the way. Phillips had nine points and six rebounds in 18 minutes of action. Senior guard
Ashton Funderburg netted seven points. At Glenville State in 2021-22, the Maroon and Gray reserves only scored nine points. The Concord bench is averaging 27.6 points per game this winter despite the season low in bench points at Charleston.
NO BREAK IN ACTION
Saturday's game will be the third straight game that Concord faces Glenville State when it is ranked in the top three. Last season, GSU was third nationally when it came to the Carter Center. The eventual national champions from last season were ranked first when the Mountain Lions closed the regular season at Glenville State. Saturday will be the first time that CU faces ranked teams in back-to-back games since the 2015-16 season when it opposed 18
th-ranked Wheeling February 16 before squaring off with 16
th-rated West Liberty February 18. The Mountain Lions faced Charleston and Glenville State in a three-game stretch when both were ranked during the 2021 season, both wins for the Maroon and Gray.
THEFT ALERT
CU and Glenville State are two of the top teams in the MEC in steals per game. GSU is third nationally with 16.2 steals per game. Meanwhile, the Mountain Lions come up with 9.7 steals per game which is fourth in the MEC. Guynn tied her career high with three steals at Charleston while Gray came away with a career-best four steals in the contest. J. Smith is 12
th in the MEC in steals per game (1.9). Glenville State has three players ranked in the top six in steals per game, led by Breanna Campbell and Hya Haywood's 2.3 steals per game. Gray is averaging 1.8 steals per game which is also top 20 in the conference.
BATTLE OF BOARDS
For just the sixth time in 16 games this season, the Mountain Lions were outrebounded as Charleston grabbed four more boards than CU, 31-27. Concord still maintains a +1.9 rebounding margin for the season which is tied for fourth in the MEC with West Liberty. Glenville State is coming off a game at West Virginia State where it was crushed on the glass, 57-31, which pushed the Pioneers into the negatives for the season in rebounding margin (-0.5). GSU had a double-digit rebounding margin in both games last season versus Concord, 48-34 and 43-32. Phillips is the top returning rebounder for CU from either game with her six boards at home.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

8- Consecutive games that Concord has shot 70 percent or better from the foul line.
13- Three-pointers needed by Guynn to move into sixth place in program history. She currently has 152.
