ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team lost on the road to David & Elkins Friday night in a Mountain East Conference contest at the McDonnell Center.
D&E (9-7, 2-2 MEC) took the match 25-14, 15-17, 25-19.
Set 1
A kill by sophomore outside hitter
Hannah Steele gave Concord (6-13, 0-4 MEC) a 6-5 edge in the opening game, but a 6-0 run by the Senators gave them a lead they did not relinquish.
Set 2
Davis & Elkins scored the first four points of the second game, but Concord used a 6-2 run to get back in the set. However, it was as close as the Mountain Lions got in the set as D&E opened up a 15-6 advantage. CU chipped away and trimmed the deficit back to 23-17, but the six-point margin was the closest it would get.
Set 3
The Mountain Lions held a lead for a good portion of the third game, but a late Senators' was the difference. CU's biggest lead in the game came at 14-11 after a kill from senior middle hitter
Amber Hall and a D&E attack error. Concord still led 17-15 after a kill from junior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant, but Davis & Elkins finished the match on a 10-2 run.
Match Stats
Pilant and Steele each had eight kills to lead CU. Pilant hit .316 in the contest. Freshman setter
Kenzee Chaffin went for 21 assists as she and Steele each had nine digs.
Concord returns home to face Glenville State 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
