BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Concord University men's cross country team finished 12
th at the Paul Short Run Brown Race Friday afternoon on the Goodman Cross Country Course.
Concord scored 432 points.
Fifth-year senior
Issac Prather led the way for the Mountain Lions by clocking a time of 23:51 for the 8,000-meter course as he was edged out by Norfolk State's Gidion Sigei for the individual win by 0.1 seconds.
Prather's time was the fastest for an 8,000-meter discipline in program history.
Junior
Preston Prather came through in 46
th as he posted a time of 24:50. Fifth-year senior
Cedric Drennen went under 25 minutes with a showing of 24:59 in 64
th place out of 403 runners. Sophomore
Logan Zuchelli was 82
nd as he clocked 25:12.
Junior
Caleb Hatcher was the last CU runner in the scoring as he finished 239
th with a time of 26:31.
Senior
Alex Watty split a time of 26:45 and sophomore
Ethan Board just missed 26 minutes with a time of 27:01 to round out the top seven for the Maroon and Gray.
Freshman
Alex Irvin (27:35), sophomore Zack Wilson (27:50) and freshman
Jamie Wall (28:24) completed the field for Concord.
The only Division II school to place ahead of CU was Southern Connecticut State in 10
th. The Mountain Lions were ahead of fellow Atlantic Region schools Davis & Elkins (14
th), Shippensburg (15
th), Lock Haven (36
th) and IUP (37
th).
Carnegie Mellon won the meet with 114 points.
