CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team lost a three-set match to Charleston Tuesday night in a Mountain East Conference contest at the Wehrle Center.
The set scores were 25-14, 25-11, 25-16. The Mountain Lions are now 6-12 this season and 0-3 in the MEC. UC improves to 16-2 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Set 1
Charleston broke off an 8-0 run with the score at 6-5. CU got within 18-10 after a UC attack error and a kill from sophomore outside hitter
Hannah Steele, but that was as close as the margin was for the remainder of the game.
Set 2
The first two points of the set were scored by CU on a Golden Eagles' error, and a kill from junior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant. However, Charleston recorded 14 of the next 17 points to open up a 14-5 lead.
Set 3
Concord trailed 20-6, but rallied to put pressure on UC. The Mountain Lions went on a 9-3 run to close within 23-15 after a Steele kill. In all, Steele had three of her 10 kills during the spurt.

Steele had seven digs to go with her team-best 10 kills. Pilant chipped in six kills. Freshman setter
Kenzee Chaffin just missed her own double-double with 16 assists and nine digs. Sophomore defensive specialist
Kaylee Spees notched a season-best 18 digs. Graduate defensive specialist
Kelli Ellison added 11 digs.
CU stays on the road to face Davis & Elkins 7:00 p.m. Friday.
