BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team rolled past Glenville State, 3-0, Wednesday night in a Mountain East Conference contest at the YMCA Paul Cline Complex.
The Mountain Lions (5-2, 3-2 MEC) scored two goals in the first 30 minutes before scoring early in the second half as it outshot Glenville State (0-7, 0-5 MEC) 20-4 on the night.
Fifth-year senior forward
Leah Foster scored unassisted in the 11
th minute as she received pass over the top and dribbled into the penalty box before beating the goalie for her second tally of the season.
Later on in the first half, redshirt freshman midfielder
Reeanna Cook found ball on her foot after a deflection around the six-yard box. Cook took a strike from about 25 yards and hit the back of the net for the second time this season in the 29
th minute.
The Mountain Lions came out in the 52
nd minute and added a third goal as senior defender
Zoe Belding recorded her first goal of the season on an assist by Foster.
Foster's three-point night tied her for the all-time points lead at Concord as she now has 132, including her 47
th career goal.
Foster was active throughout the game as she posted nine total shots with seven on goal. Cook and sophomore forwardÂ
Kylene Franklin both had two shots in the game. Sophomore forward
Nora Voisey created several chances for CU in the second half as she came in as a substitute in both halves.
Fifteen of the 20 shots for Concord were on target.
Fifth-year senior goalkeeper
Leah Marsh notched three saves in the contest.
The Mountain Lions travel to West Virginia State, who remained undefeated this season with a 2-1 win over Charleston Wednesday, 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
