SPREADING THE WEALTH
In Sunday's loss at Notre Dame, junior midfielder
Ricardo Chinea-Pegler became the sixth different goal scorer for CU this season. The Mountain Lions are over halfway to matching last year's goal scorer total when they had nine in 18 games. For Chinea-Pegler, it was his third career goal and first since his freshman year against Charleston. Chinea-Pegler's first career goal came at WVWC in February 2021.
MAKING THE MOST OF AN OPPORTUNITY
Last year, Concord defeated West Virginia Wesleyan on the road 3-1 . The Mountain Lions were outshot in the game 14-9, but three of the four shots on target found the back of the net for CU. Senior midfielder
Michael Shelor tallied a tying goal in the 15
th minute. Fellow senior midfielder
Tomas Fanello helped secure a win for Concord as he assisted on the third goal in the 90
th minute. It was the first time in program history that CU defeated WVWC on the road.
ONE-GOAL MARGINS
Concord's 3-1 win last year on the road broke a string of seven of the last eight games between the Mountain Lions and West Virginia Wesleyan being decided by one goal, including a WVWC win 2-1 last year in Beckley. Sophomore defender
Esteban Correa was responsible for giving CU an early 1-0 lead. West Virginia Wesleyan scored both of its goals 80 seconds apart in the first half.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
Like Concord, West Virginia Wesleyan is seeking its first conference win. The lone win for WVWC this season was on the road against California (Pa.). The Bobcats have tied Alderson Broaddus and Wheeling this season, and the latest contest for Wesleyan was a 5-1 defeat at Charleston. Sinasi Emre Deniz has scored three of the seven goals for the Bobcats. Logan Nelson has saved 12 shots.
