NEW ORLEANS – The Concord University men's cross country team has been voted third in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Regional Preseason Poll, the organization Monday afternoon.
Charleston and Edinboro were the only teams in front of Concord in the regional rankings. CU, Davis & Elkins and Shippensburg completed the top five. West Liberty, Lock Haven, Indiana (Pa.), Slippery Rock and Bloomsburg occupied spots six through ten.
The Mountain Lions claimed a spot in the top three after last year's finish at the Atlantic Regional Championship, locking up a bid to the NCAA Division II National Championship in the process.
With Monday's announcement, it marks the 16
th consecutive week that Concord has been in the top 10 of the regional rankings as voted on by the coaches' association.
CU starts the season Friday evening at the Virginia Tech Invite in Blacksburg, Virginia.
