CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Concord University volleyball team lost matches to North Greenville and Wingate Saturday at the Queens Classic inside Curry Arena.

Match 1: North Greenville 3 – Concord 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-18)

Set 1
Other than a short-lived 7-4 lead for NGU, neither team led by three points again until the Crusaders went up 16-13. A kill and a service ace from sophomore outside hitter Hannah Steele drew CU even at 19-19. But, North Greenville got some separation with four straight points.

Set 2
NGU got out to an 8-2 lead on the Mountain Lions. Concord had a response as it crept back to within 14-10 after a kill from junior middle hitter Csayjah Whitelow. It was as close as the Maroon and Gray would get, however.

Set 3
Down 9-3 in the third game, Concord came storming back with a 6-3 scoring spurt. CU stayed within four points of the Crusaders until a 5-0 run from NGU at 16-13 gave it the breathing room it needed.

Wingate went on a 5-0 run, but the Mountain Lions answered with five straight points of their own. Sophomore outside hitter Gracie Brackney recorded two of her seven kills. Up 14-13 on the Bulldogs, the Mountain Lions and Wingate went back-and-forth until WU took a 21-17 lead.
