ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team hits the road to play Glenville State in a Mountain East Conference doubleheader Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.

BAUER POWER
With a strikeout in the seventh inning of the game one victory over Frostburg State, freshman pitcher/first baseman
Caitlyn Bauer reached 100 strikeouts in her career. The Lexington, North Carolina native is sitting at 105 strikeouts thrown this season, which places her sixth in the MEC for strikeouts. Bauer is also fourth in the MEC in innings pitched (115.2), and tenth in the conference in opponents' batting average (.275).
Over the weekend, Bauer earned complete game victories in both of her starts. In the eight-inning win over Frostburg State, she struck out four batters and allowed two earned runs. In the 3-1 win over Fairmont State, Bauer fanned five hitters while allowing just two hits and one earned run.
SEASON SWEEPS
Wednesday evening, the Mountain Lions have a chance to sweep the Pioneers in the season series for the first time since the 2019 campaign. In 2019, CU defeated Glenville State in its doubleheader 6-3 in game one and 7-1 in game two. Concord then beat Glenville State on the road 8-0 before completing the sweep with a 12-2 victory. Laura Thompson both recorded a double and three RBI each in the four games against the Pioneers in 2019. In the 6-3 win, L. Thompson tossed five strikeouts and allowed one earned run in three innings pitched. L. Thompson earned the complete game victory in the 8-0 win, where she struck out five batters, and allowed just two hits and no earned runs.
Earlier this season, Concord defeated the GSU, 2-0 in game one and 7-3 in game two. In the 2-0 victory, L. Thompson recorded two hits, including a double and an RBI. Rachael Koller was the winning pitcher. In a complete game effort, Koller struck out seven batters and allowed three earned runs.
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
In its last seven games, CU has stolen 11 bases and has only been caught twice. In the span, freshman third baseman
Kylee Stacy has stolen five bases. Stacy is the team leader in stolen bases with 18 and currently sits third in the MEC for most bags stolen. L. Thompson swiped two bases in those seven games, bringing her season total up to 13. She is now tied for seventh in the MEC for stolen bases. Concord as a team has swiped a total of 67 bases so far this season, which is the sixth-most in the MEC.
GLENVILLE STATE AT A GLANCE
The Pioneers have won six of their last seven games played and are coming off a series split with Frostburg State. Glenville State has a team batting average of .268 and is slugging .370. Outfielder Ashton Palmer is the team leader in batting average, hitting .326. Infielder Haylee Stevens is one of the Pioneers' best hitters, batting .314 with eight doubles, a triple, two home runs and 13 RBI. Stevens is also slugging .471. In the pitching circle, Glenville State has a team ERA of 6.56. However, pitcher Holly Brehm has an ERA of 3.14, tossing 159 strikeouts and allowing 39 earned runs in 111.2 innings pitched. Brehm was the losing pitcher against Concord earlier this month. In a complete game outing, she struck out 10 batters and allowed two earned runs.
