ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team finishes their week at the Spring Games with two more doubleheaders held at the DiamondPlex Softball Complex in Winter Haven, Florida.
On Thursday, Concord plays nationally-ranked Minnesota State-Mankato at 10:00 a.m. and at 12:15 p.m. On Friday, CU matches up against Clarion at 9:00 a.m. and American International at 11:15 a.m.

The Mountain Lions are 4-10 this season.
Minnesota State-Mankato is 10-4 and ranked 20

FRESHMAN IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman pitcher/infielder
Rachael Koller and freshman pitcher/first baseman
Caitlyn Bauer have pitched 63.1 innings combined. Koller is the team leader in ERA (4.45) and strikeouts thrown (32). Koller has tallied at least four strikeouts in four of her seven starts this season. In the win against Lake Erie, Koller struck out four and allowed two earned runs in five innings pitched. Bauer came in to relieve Koller at the start of the sixth inning. Bauer struck out three, while allowing one hit and earning her second win of the season.
OPPONENT HISTORY
The Mountain Lions have only faced MSU once in program history. During the 2020 season, the two programs met at the Florida PFX Tournament held in Clermont, Florida. The Mavericks came out with the victory, 3-1. Junior catcher/outfielder
Jolie Privett batted 2-for-3, driving in the only CU run of the game.The last time CU has beaten a nationally-ranked opponent was in 2019 when the Mountain Lions defeated 20

Dani Bloomingdale was the starting left fielder for the Mountain Lions. Offensively, Bloomingdale batted 3-for-3 in the win. CU and Clarion have met three times previously, with Concord holding the 2-1 series advantage. The 2015 season was the last time the two programs met. Concord came out victorious, 1-0.Friday morning will be the first time CU and American International have ever played against each other.
MONDAY/TUESDAY RECAP
Concord opened tournament play against Trevecca Nazarene, where they were defeated 6-1. Their next two games were postponed due to bad weather.
Tuesday afternoon, Concord fought back late and came out with a 5-3 victory against Lake Erie.After Lake Erie went up 2-0, Concord started the comeback in the bottom of the third. Freshman second baseman/outfielder
Aubrey Matice led off the inning with a single. Freshman third baseman
Kylee Stacy doubled to left center and a defensive error allowed Matice to score on the play. The next batter, Thompson, homered to give Concord the 3-2 lead.Lake Erie tied the game 3-3 in the top of the sixth. Concord answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Freshman utility player

Kayla McCraw. Stacy singled two batters later to give Concord a 5-3 lead.Stacy batted 3-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Stacy has four multi-hit games this season. Thompson also had two RBI on the day, her first such game of 2022.
THE FIELD AT A GLANCE
Offensively, The Mavericks are led by outfielder Kylie Sullivan. Sullivan is hitting .359 with five doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, and seven runs. In the circle, pitcher Mackenzie Ward sports a 0.96 ERA. Ward has struck out 79 batters and has only allowed eight earned runs in 58.1 innings.
Clarion first baseman Hannah Norton leads the team in average, batting .400. Norton has two home runs, five RBI, and five runs scored. Pitcher Amber Gilliam has a 5.15 ERA. She has struck out three batters in 17.2 innings.
AIU pitcher/utility player Alexis Jimenez has earned the title of utility player. Offensively, Jimenez leads the team in average, batting .400. In the pitching circle, Jimenez has a 3.23 ERA, tossing six strikeouts in 13 innings.
