PITCHING POWER
Concord allowed just two runs in a doubleheader sweep of West Liberty as sophomore pitcher Andrew Neff turned in a fourth-straight start with at least six strikeouts. Neff has also pitched at least seven innings in four of five starts this season as he won 4-2. In his first career start, freshman pitcher/infielder Rylee Nicholas took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and recorded seven strikeouts. Nicholas and fifth-year senior pitcher Dan Nicholls combined to shutout WLU on three hits in an 8-0 win. It was the first shutout for CU since 2019 when Will Guay blanked UVa.-Wise, 8-0. Nicholas has an ERA of 0.98 in 18.1 innings. In his midweek start last week at Emory & Henry, Nicholls tossed a career-best 6.2 innings and allowed three earned runs. Nicholls has only allowed three runs over his last 11.2 innings. The three wins over the weekend pushed head coach Kevin Garrett to within two of 500 for his career.

SNEAKY FAST
In the four games over the weekend, the Mountain Lions stole eight bases, including a season-high tying three in the first game against West Liberty. For the season, CU has 26 stolen bases and has only been caught once—the best percentage in the MEC in attempts (96.2 percent). CU has several threats on the bases. Sophomore infielder Zack Saryeldin is a perfect 6-for-6 this season. Junior outfielder Josh Adkins, sophomore outfielder DJ Christian, junior outfielder Richard Ortiz and fifth-year senior infielder Anthony Stehlin all have four stolen bases with Stehlin being the only one that's been caught. Going back to the start of the 2020 season, Stehlin has only been thrown out four times in 31 attempts. In a 5-3 win over UVa.-Wise on March 2, Adkins, Christian and Stehlin all had a stolen base.

THE REMATCH
Concord and UVa.-Wise split a doubleheader at the beginning of the month with both teams winning by two runs. CU took the first game before UVa.-Wise won 8-6 in the nightcap. The Mountain Lions had won five straight games over the Cavaliers before the UVa.-Wise victory. Stehlin was 4-for-7 in the doubleheader with three RBI. In six career games versus the Cavaliers, the Woodbridge, Virginia native is 11-for-20 (.550) with six RBI. Stehlin has eight RBI in his last five games for the 2022 season. Nicholas was 2-for-3 with two RBI versus UVa.-Wise earlier in the month as he saw action at third base.

UVA.-WISE AT A GLANCE
The Cavaliers took two of three games from Lincoln Memorial over the weekend as they won a pair of one-run games, 2-1 and 6-5. Cole Harness was 3-for-5 across two games at Concord earlier this season with two RBI. Harness is tied for the team lead among qualifiers with a .271 average. Jude Drzemiecki drove in three of the eight runs for the Cavaliers in the win at CU. Evan Stanley had three hits. Ryan Whitson was the pitcher of the record for UVa.-Wise in the win as he tossed two scoreless innings of relief.
