FINDING A WAY
CU picked up a win over Davis & Elkins Friday night as the match was decided by six total points, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23. The Mountain Lions used an exceptional offensive attack with 52 kills and a hitting percentage of .272—the highest hitting percentage since a .296 outing on September 1 against Salem—to down the Senators. Concord had four players finish with 10 or more kills. Sophomore outside hitter
Gracie Brackney recorded a team-best 13 kills. Junior middle hitter
Kyndra Pilant and sophomore outside hitter
Hannah Steele each had 11 kills while senior middle hitter
Amber Hall pitched in 10 kills in her penultimate home game at the Carter Center. It was the first time CU had four or more players with double-digit kills in the same match since 2019 versus Glenville State.
STRONG BACK ROW
Brackney has tallied a double-double in three straight matches as she has averaged 10.6 kills and 16.6 digs per match. The Plainfield, Indiana native is the second Mountain Lion with three straight double-doubles this season, joining freshman setter
Kenzee Chaffin who had double-doubles against Cal U, WVU Tech and Lock Haven at the beginning of September. Along with Brackney's 13 kills and 19 digs versus D&E, Chaffin threw in 40 assists and 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the fall.
LOOKING FOR REVENGE
Concord overcame a sweep against Davis & Elkins on the road from late September and will look to do the same against Charleston and Glenville State. Steele had 10 kills in the Charleston contest. Sophomore defensive specialist
Kaylee Spees added a then-season high 18 digs. The straight sets win by Glenville State in early October snapped a four-match winning streak for Concord over the Pioneers. Steele chipped in another 10 kills while Brackney just missed a double-double of eight kills and nine digs.
