WELCOME BACK HOME
After a couple of tough losses on the road last week, the Mountain Lions return home where they are 4-4 this season. The latest home match was a setback to West Virginia Wesleyan September 23 in five sets. Sophomore outside hitter
Gracie Brackney had a career-best 18 kills in her last home match that included a .308 hitting percentage. Freshman setter
Kenzee Chaffin had one of her four 40-assist matches of the season with 41 versus the Bobcats to go with 16 digs. Chaffin added a career-best eight kills in the match. CU has already had two home matches go five sets this season.
IN FOR THE LONG HAUL
In three of the last four times that Concord has faced Glenville State inside the Carter Center, the match has required five sets. Last year, the Maroon and Gray fell behind 2-1 before winning the fourth game 25-20 and took the fifth set 15-10. Sophomore outside hitter
Hannah Steele had 11 kills at home versus GSU, and a combined 25 for the year against the Pioneers. Graduate defensive specialist
Kelli Ellison recorded 20 digs in the five-set win. During the spring season of 2021, senior middle hitter
Amber Hall hit .368 and notched 10 kills in a five-set win over Glenville State.
DON'T BE SO BLUE
Overall, Concord has won four straight matches versus Glenville State, and six of the last seven contests. Dating back to the 2015 season, Concord has hit at least. 240 against GSU in 13 of 14 matches. Last season, the Mountain Lions hit a season-best .373 in a road sweep of Glenville State. In addition to her 14 kills, Steele hit .481. Hall had nine kills with a swing percentage of .438. In over half the matches played since 2016—seven of 12—CU has rolled up 10 or more blocks versus the Pioneers. Concord's 15 blocks versus the Pioneers last fall at home were a season best. Hall and Steele went for a combined 3.5 blocks.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Like Concord, Glenville State went five sets with West Virginia Wesleyan earlier this season, resulting in a win as GSU took the even sets and the fifth. Katarzyna Niderla is seventh in the MEC in hitting percentage (.319) and ninth in kills per set (3.06). GSU is only hitting .167 as a team, but the defense has carried the Pioneers as their .112 hitting percentage against is third in the conference. Lindsay Winkler averages 3.35 digs per set.
