ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team plays back-to-back home matches when it welcomes Alderson Broaddus 7:00 p.m. Friday and Notre Dame 1:00 p.m. Saturday to the Carter Center for a pair of Mountain East Conference matches.

BATTLING THE BATTLERS
After dropping the first set at Alderson Broaddus last fall, Concord rebounded to take the next three games, and the match in four sets. Sophomore outside hitter
Hannah Steele had one of her 10 career double-doubles with 15 kills and 14 digs. It was the last double-double of the 2021 season for the Pearisburg, Virginia native. Senior middle hitter
Amber Hall had 12 kills and tied a season best with six blocks. Graduate defensive specialist
Kelli Ellison came through with 23 digs. Junior setter
Kristin Lough added 16 assists. Dating back to 2012, the teams have split the last six meetings.
RECORD WATCH
Freshman setter
Kenzee Chaffin is approaching 600 assists for the season as she sits at 597 entering play Friday night. Chaffin is 43 assists away from breaking into the top 10 in single-season assists at Concord. The last CU setter to have 600 or more assists in a season was
Casey Mandeville who had 731 during the 2017 season. Meanwhile, Steele is 39 kills away from 300 for the campaign, and is vying to become the first player since
Brooke Heck in 2016 and 2017 to have back-to-back 300 kills seasons.
OPPORTUNE TIME
Though the Mountain Lions have hit less than .100 in the last two matches, CU will have chances this weekend to increase a team mark of .138 as both Alderson Broaddus and Notre Dame allow opponents to hit right around .200 this season. Notre Dame is 10
th in the MEC in opponent hitting percentage (.195) while Alderson Broaddus ranks 11
th (.210). In six of its last 10 matches, the Battlers have seen opponents hit better than .200, including Frostburg State hitting .327 Tuesday night. Notre Dame's Kylie Kalina is third in the MEC in digs per set (4.64). However, five of the last 10 teams to face NDC has hit .200 or better.

Jocie Fisher is the only player for Alderson Broaddus that has more than 100 kills this season. She has 230 and is averaging 3.33 kills per set—third in the MEC. With the work of Fisher, Kaitlyn Jager is averaging 6.77 assists per game. The Battlers are seeking to snap a nine-match losing streak Friday. Five of the six wins for AB this fall have come away from home.

The Falcons were swept Tuesday night by West Liberty as they are now tied with Frostburg State for fourth in the MEC North. NDC will visit Glenville State Friday before heading to Athens. Kaye Dregalla paces the offense with 2.67 kills per set while Kelsie Palmer is right behind with 2.54 kills per game.
