FROSTBURG, Md. – The Concord University men's soccer team lost 4-0 to Frostburg State Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium in the Mountain East Conference opener for both sides.
Frostburg State (1-0, 1-0 MEC) scored two goals in each half, including an 11
th-minute goal to take a 1-0 edge on the Mountain Lions (0-2, 0-1 MEC).
Junior midfielder
Michael Shelor had a chance to tie the game in the 20
th minute, but his shot was stopped by FSU goalkeeper Joel Assal.
Sophomore forward
Piyo Debesay notched a second-half shot on goal for Concord.
Debesay and Shelor accounted for four of the six total shots on the afternoon while sophomore midfielder
Ricardo Chinea-Pegler and freshman defender
Ted Penn each had a shot in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sean Monro made six saves in the setback.
The Mountain Lions host West Liberty in the home opener 4:00 pm. Wednesday at Paul Cline Soccer Complex in Beckley, West Virginia.
