BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Concord University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to King Thursday afternoon in non-conference action at Parks Field.
Senior goalkeeper
Kyle Brown was forced into two saves in the first 35 minutes before KU started to apply pressure to Brown and the Concord defense.
After Brown stopped a third first-half shot in the 38
th minute, the Tornado broke through for the game's first goal just over a minute later.
The one-goal advantage held up for King until it added a second goal in the 64
th minute. The Mountain Lions had a chance to even the game right before the KU score, but freshman midfielder
Juan Farinella was denied by Dalton Gammon.
Sophomore midfielder
Ricardo Chinea-Pegler had two shots go high of the target in the 71
st minute and again in the 84
th minute as Concord came up short.
Brown registered nine saves on the day. Chinea-Pegler had two shots for CU while Farinella had a shot on goal.
The Mountain Lions open Mountain East Conference play 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Frostburg State. Â
