BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team fell to Notre Dame, 10-1, Sunday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action at the YMCA Paul Cline Complex.
The Mountain Lions (0-5, 0-4 MEC) were able to tie the score in the 19
th minute as sophomore defender
Ezequiel Villarreal headed home a cross in front of the left post for his first goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder
Ricardo Chinea-Pegler and junior midfielder
Michael Shelor were both credited with assists after Shelor played a ball from the midfield to Chinea-Pegler on the right edge of the penalty area before the cross to Villarreal.
Notre Dame (2-1, 2-1 MEC) scored nine unanswered goals with the game knotted at 1-1.
Fifth-year senior goalkeeper
Kyle Brown stopped 13 shots on the afternoon which are tied for the fourth-most in Division II this season.
Five different players combined for the CU shots.
The Mountain Lions continue their say in Beckley as they welcome West Virginia Wesleyan 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
