Gore Places Seventh in 100-Meter Dash Final

TOKYO – Concord University cross country and track & field assistant coach Jonathan Gore finished seventh in the T64 classification 100-meter dash final at the Paralympics inside Tokyo's Olympic Stadium Monday evening.

Gore sprinted to a time of 11.08 seconds as he finished just behind fellow American Jarryd Wallace.

Germany's Felix Streng just missed his own Paralympic record from the prelim round as he won gold in 10.76 seconds. Costa Rica's Sherman Isidro Guity Guity claimed the silver medal in 10.78 as he edged out Johannes Floors and Jonnie Peacock of Great Britain who tied for bronze in a time of 10.79 (10.786).

The race that Gore was in Monday was the fastest T64 100-meters ever contested in the history of the Paralympics.

The Fayetteville, West Virginia native will now turn his attention to the 200-meter dash. The preliminary round of the event is scheduled for 10:28 p.m. eastern time Friday (11:28 a.m. Saturday Tokyo).
