West Virginia State sports a mark of 12-6 overall and is 9-3 against the MEC.

YARD WORK
Concord tied a single-game program record with five home runs in a win over Salem Wednesday. The record was previously set in a seven-inning contest during the 2010 season at Ohio Valley. With five home runs, the Mountain Lions set the nine-inning game record. Junior infielder Anthony Stehlin recorded his first career multi home run game on Wednesday while sophomore outfielder Richard Ortiz hit his second grand slam in the last five games. This season, Ortiz is 4-for-4 with the bases loaded with 12 RBI. Ortiz became the first CU player with two grand slams in the same season since Jordan Clark in 2017. Junior infielder Evan Antonellis notched his second home run of the season, and freshman infielder Zack Saryeldin did the same against Salem.

WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND
In his last start over the weekend, senior pitcher Trent Abernathy tied his single-game career high with 12 strikeouts against Fairmont State which also tied Troy Beckner for most strikeouts in a seven-inning game in program history. Abernathy issued just one walk in his start against FSU and is the MEC leader in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 6.17. For the season, Abernathy has 37 strikeouts to six walks. Additionally, the Harrisonburg, Virginia native moved past Brooks Cullen for fourth in program history in strikeouts as he now has 175. Over 18 career innings against WVSU, Abernathy has a 4.00 ERA with 12 strikeouts and two pitching wins. In his first career start against Frostburg State, freshman pitcher Andrew Neff worked 4.1 innings as he struck out eight to set career highs in both innings pitched and strikeouts.

KEEPING THE STREAK ALIVE
Antonellis and Stehlin both carry hitting streaks of at least 11 games into play Friday. Stehlin has hit safely in all 13 games he has played in as he leads the MEC in batting average (.467), and is second in slugging percentage (.778). Antonellis has notched a hit in 11 consecutive games, including the solo home run as his only hit against Salem. Stehlin's hitting streak is the longest for a CU player since Stehlin, himself, had a 17-game hitting streak from March 10-30, 2019. The last player to have a hitting streak of at least 15 games that wasn't Stehlin was Chad Frazier (20 games) and Clark (16 games) during the 2017 season.

A RIVALRY RENEWED
Since 1997, Concord and West Virginia State have met 80 times on the diamond with WVSU holding a 48-32 edge. The two schools separated by just over 100 miles have been mainstays atop the WVIAC and MEC standings throughout the years. Since the 2016 season, the teams have split their 16 regular-season games at eight apiece. In 2019, the teams split the four game series at Anderson Field with West Virginia State winning the first two games, and the Mountain Lions taking the third and fourth games. Nitro, West Virginia native Josh Adkins who grew up just five miles from WVSU's campus was 3-for-6 with three doubles while Stehlin was 5-for-12 with three RBI. Stehlin also pitched one inning in both CU wins in 2019.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE AT A GLANCE
Matt Harrison leads the MEC in home runs (seven) and is second in RBI (20) as he is hitting .400 on the season. Two seasons ago, the Mountain Lions held Harrison in check as he went just 3-for-14 in the series at Anderson Field. Veteran infielder Christopher Jordan is batting .370 this season with a home run and 13 RBI. Nine different Yellow Jackets have started a game on the mound for head coach Sean Loyd. Jacob Bradley has only started one game this season, but sports an ERA of 0.79 in 11 innings.
