RECORDS
With six consecutive wins, the Mountain Lions are 7-9 on the season and 5-3 versus the MEC.

Charleston sports a 10-4 overall mark, and is 3-1 in conference play.

West Virginia State is 10-6 in 2021 with a 7-1 record in the MEC.

HEATING UP
By collecting sweeps over conference foes Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan last weekend, Concord rattled off its longest winning streak since collecting nine straight wins at the end of the 2019 regular season. Reigning MEC Player of the Week junior third baseman/outfielder Sarah Thompson batted nearly .600 in six games last week as she tallied five extra-base hits—including her first career grand slam—and drove in nine runs. Senior utility Jenna Witt put up similar numbers as she hit .611 with five more extra-base hits and 10 RBI. Additionally, the 55 runs CU has scored during its winning streak are the most in a six-game winning stretch since March 9-22, 2015 when it put up 56 runs in six consecutive wins.

CAREER DAYS
Senior outfielder/pitcher Darby Fitzpatrick and sophomore catcher/outfielder Jolie Privett may not have put up the offensive exploits of Thompson and Witt, but both were pivotal in sweeps of D&E and Wesleyan. Fitzpatrick had three consecutive multi-hit games to finish the weekend that included her first career four-hit game in a 12-3 win over Davis & Elkins. It marked the second time this season that the Pocomoke City, Maryland native has had three straight multi-hit games. For Privett, she recorded the first five-hit game for a CU player since Rachel Pritchard had five hits at Urbana April 21, 2018. Privett was 5-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBI in game two against D&E. Other career achievements over the last six games include junior first baseman Tiara Peters launching her first career grand slam in game one at Davis & Elkins, and sophomore pitcher/outfielder and reigning MEC Pitcher of the Week Josie Brewer racking up a career-best 10 strikeouts in a win over Bluefield State. Brewer has an ERA of 1.13 in her last 12.1 innings.

FACING THE VALLEY
Concord welcomes the two MEC schools from West Virginia's Kanawha Valley when UC and West Virginia State pay a visit to Athens. The Mountain Lions opened up MEC play in 2021 by splitting a doubleheader with Charleston before being swept by WVSU. CU erased a 3-1 deficit to down Charleston, 4-3, before the Golden Eagles won the night cap, 6-3. Junior pitcher/outfielder Laura Thompson hit one of her two triples on the year and scored the go-ahead run to help Concord rally from the small deficit at UC. Since the start of the 2014 season, the Mountain Lions are 15-9 at home against Charleston and West Virginia State, having swept at least one of the two squads at the CU Softball Field in four of the last six seasons.

CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
UC has played just two games since facing the Mountain Lions, a sweep of Glenville State. Leadoff hitter and center fielder AJ Martin was 4-for-8 with four RBI against Concord earlier this season. Martin leads Charleston in batting average at .395. Gracie Donato and Megan Eder have combined for 26 RBI. Danielle Bauer has struck out 56 batters in 41 innings, but was the losing pitcher earlier this season against Concord as she struck out eight in seven innings. Bauer, though, allowed, 10 hits to the Mountain Lions.

WEST VIRGINIA STATE AT A GLANCE
A 6-3 loss to West Liberty last weekend snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Yellow Jackets. WVSU has four players with 10 or more RBI this season, including a team-best 16 from Emma Ruth who hit a game-ending two-run home run versus CU earlier this season. Shian Meek has three home runs and 11 RBI while Emily Moore is adding four home runs and 10 RBI. Moore is also 6-2 as a pitcher with 51 strikeouts in 57 innings.
