BECKLEY, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team was edged by Alderson Broaddus, 1-0, Friday evening in a Mountain East Conference contest at the YMCA Paul Cline Complex.
Alderson Broaddus (2-3) netted the game-winning goal in the 96
th minute off a corner kicker.
The two sides needed 45 minutes to get warmed up as the first half featured just 12 total shots, but after halftime a total of 22 shots were recorded. After the Battlers had a series of chances early in the second half, freshman midfielder
Robbie Stiles recorded both of his shot attempts 10 minutes apart—the 57
th an 67
th minute—with the latter being saved.
The best scoring chance came from AB in the 73
rd minute as CU's freshman goalkeeper
Sean Monro saved a penalty kick to keep the game scoreless.

Michael Shelor missed high with an attempt in the 75
th minute, and the same happened to junior midfielder
Daniel Culverwell in the 82
nd minute.
CU survived a flurry of action in the final minutes of the second half to push the game to overtime.
The lone shot on goal in overtime was the game winner from Alderson Broaddus.
