PIPESTEM, W.Va. – The Concord University men's cross country team was one point off the pace of Charleston, 27-28, as it finished second Friday afternoon at the Concord Invite at Pipestem State Park.
Junior
Issac Prather won his second consecutive race as he clocked a time of 26:08 to finish 12 seconds ahead of Charleston's David Cecchi. CU occupied spots five through seven as junior
Cedric Drennen crossed in 27:23, senior
Samuel Haynes stopped the timer at 27:25 and sophomore
Nate Leichner ran 27:35.
Senior
Samuel Thomas ran 27:42, good enough for ninth, and freshman
Preston Prather hit a time of 28:40 for the 8,000-meter course to place 13
th.
Sophomore
John Casey came across the line in 29:17 to finish 15
th. Freshman
Caleb Hatcher was 16 seconds back of Casey as he placed 16
th.
Concord's field was rounded out by junior
Daniel Baldwin (18
th / 30:40), senior
Raheem Williams (19
th / 31:58) and senior
Brett Strickland (20
th / 33:02).
Friday was the final tune-up for the Mountain Lions before the Mountain East Conference Championship Saturday, March 20 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
