MOVIN ON UP
Senior pitcher Trent Abernathy tossed five innings in his first conference start of the season against Wheeling. The Harrisonburg, Virginia native struck out nine over those five innings as he moved past Jason Sharp (1997-00) for fifth on the all-time strikeouts list at Concord as Abernathy now has 159 punch outs in his career. Abernathy now sets his sights on fourth place Brooks Cullen (2007-10) who had 165 strikeouts more than a decade ago. In his lone career start against Notre Dame, Abernathy struck out seven Falcons in six innings in a 12-2 CU win in March 2019. Offensively, junior infielder Anthony Stehlin stole three bases to start his season as he tied current assistant coach Devin Smith (2009-13) for 10th on the program's all-time stolen base list with 28 career steals.

HOT START
In his first four games of the 2021 season, junior infielder Evan Antonellis is batting .583 after going 7-for-12 in games against Wheeling and West Liberty. Antonellis slugged out his first career home run against Wheeling Monday and added his first career triple against WLU Tuesday. Meanwhile, freshman utility Eddie Blake has made the quite the impression in his first four MEC games. The Moneta, Virginia native hit safely in all four league games Monday and Tuesday as he batted .400 (6-for-15) and recorded an RBI in three of the four games. For the season, Blake is batting .333 and has at least one hit in six of seven games. On the mound, junior pitcher Dan Nicholls is 16th in ERA among pitchers with at least 10 innings of work in 2021. Nicholls sports an ERA of 0.84, having allowed just one earned run in 10.2 innings

OUT OF THE GATE
Concord and Notre Dame split the last doubleheader played between the teams—March 24, 2019—at Anderson Field. The Mountain Lions took the first game by the aforementioned 10 runs before Notre Dame earned a 6-3 victory. In CU's win, the Maroon and Gray recorded 18 hits as it scored six runs in its first two trips to the plate. Stehlin notched two hits and scored three runs. Concord's offense was held in check by NDC in game two with eight hits, but Stehlin collected two more base knocks. The team that has scored first in the last six games between CU and Notre Dame has gone on to win.

NOTRE DAME AT A GLANCE
The Falcons started off conference play by getting swept at West Virginia in 7-3 and 6-3 before splitting a doubleheader with Charleston, losing 6-2 and winning 8-4. Veteran infielder Nick Ferrell is batting just .267, but leads the team in home runs (two) and RBI (nine) through 12 games. Hayden Parker is 2-0 on the mound with a 2.45 ERA, and had not given up an earned run in 10 innings before allowing four to Charleston in 5.1 innings of work. Notre Dame also owns wins over Findlay, Gannon and Lake Erie this season.

ALDERSON BROADDUS AT A GLANCE
AB entertains the Mountain Lions for the first time since April 2011, and it will be the first overall meeting since CU swept the Battlers in 2013. Alderson Broaddus was swept by Charleston and West Virginia State over the weekend, but three of the four games were decided by three runs or less. Taylor Cook had a home run and seven RBI to begin the season. Connor McSparran was a tough luck loser in a 2-1 defeat to West Virginia State as he went 5.1 innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out five.
