Concord Fends Off Davis & Elkins, 1-0

ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team scored in the first five minutes of the game and held off Davis & Elkins for a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game at Nuttall Field.

Senior midfielder Yasmin Mosby put away her first goal of the season in the fourth minute of the game after the ball was played into the box before finding the feet of Mosby, from just outside the seven-yard box.

The Mountain Lions (2-1) had plenty of chances throughout the game as they fired off 10 total shots in the first half with five being on goal. Sophomore midfielder Michelle Brogden had two looks at the goal in the first 25 minutes of the game, but her shots were saved.

Half of the six shots for Concord in the second half were also on goal. Meanwhile, Davis & Elkins (0-3) had a shot find the arms of junior goalkeeper Leah Marsh in the 72nd minute, and another Senators' chance was high in the 81st minute as CU kept the advantage.

For the game, Concord outshot the Senators, 16-8, and had eight shots on goal to D&E's three. The Mountain Lions owned a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore forward Rachel Bell, Brogden and Mosby each had two shots on goal for Concord with Brogden recording five total shots.
