This recap will be updated
Game 1: Concord 4 – Charleston 3
The Mountain Lions (1-7) rallied from a two-run deficit with a three-run sixth inning to win the first game of the doubleheader.
UC (8-4) plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 advantage, but Concord had a quick answer in the next half inning. After junior first baseman
Tiara Peters and senior outfielder
Dani Bloomingdale both reached base to start the inning, junior pitcher/outfielder
Laura Thompson lined a triple over the head of the Charleston center fielder, A.J. Martin, to tie the game at 3-3.
CU's next batter, junior third baseman/outfielder
Sarah Thompson, plated L. Thompson to give Concord its first lead since 1-0 in the first inning.
L. Thompson worked around base runners all afternoon—keeping the Charleston bats from having a big inning—as she stranded the bases loaded in the second inning, and maneuvered around a bases-loaded, no outs jam in the third inning to only allow one run.
The Mountain Lions staked Thompson out to the 1-0 lead in the first inning as she scored on a two-out single from sophomore catcher/outfielder
Jolie Privett.
Thompson pitched six innings as she allowed three runs before senior pitcher/outfielder
Cartney Schoolcraft retired the side in order in the seventh to earn the save.
Game 2: Charleston 6 – Concord 3
Charleston got on the board first with two runs in the second inning before Concord answered in the top of the third inning as senior utility
Jenna Witt brought home L. Thompson to trim the margin to 2-1.
The Golden Eagles stretched their lead out to 6-1 going to the top of the seventh. CU plated two runs in its final at-bat, including a run-scoring extra base hit from Witt, and brought the tying run to the plate. However, Charleston was able to limit the Concord rally, holding on for a three-run win.
Final stats are incomplete for both games. When those become available, they will be posted.
