Concord Uses Quick Attack to Win at Notre Dame, 4-0

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The Concord University women's soccer team won its fifth straight game by blanking Notre Dame, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference contest at Mueller Field.

CU (14-0-3, 12-0-3 MEC) scored 61 seconds into the game as junior forward Courtney Smith slipped a through ball from the midfield to junior forward Rachel Bell who finished off her fourth goal of the season from the left edge of the penalty box.

Fifth-year senior forward Yasmin Mosby picked up her MEC-leading 18th goal in the 20th minute as she received a cross from Bell right in front of the net. It just six more minutes for the Mountain Lions to lead by three.

Smith dribbled through the NDC defense down the end line and found junior midfielder Michelle Brogden crashing towards the net as Brogden fended off two NDC (5-8-3, 5-7-3 MEC) defenders for her fourth goal in the last three games.

With the three-goa advantage, CU's defense kept any serious Notre Dame threats away as it held the Falcons without a shot in the first half.
Brogden assisted on the final goal of the game as she found senior forward Leah Foster in the 62nd minute for Foster's 11th goal of the season—a score to the top right corner of the net from a sharp left angle.

Senior goalkeeper Leah Marsh stopped two second-half shots that came her way as Concord outshot NDC, 18-4. The Mountain Lions also had five of the game's six corner kicks.

On Wednesday, fifth-year senior defender Alyssa Mahar broke the program record for games played by appearing in her 82nd game at CU.

CU finishes the regular season at the YMCA Cline Complex in Beckley, West Virginia 3:30 p.m. Sunday against Glenville State.
