BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team fell in a four-set match to West Virginia Wesleyan in Mountain East Conference play inside the Rockefeller Center.
The set scores were 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 25-19.
Set 1
Neither team led by more than two points until Wesleyan (1-9, 1-1 MEC) took a 17-14 edge. However, a quick 5-1 run from CU (3-7, 0-2 MEC) pushed it up 19-18. WVWC fought back to go up 22-20 before a kill from freshman outside hitter
Hannah Steele helped Concord tie the game, but the Mountain Lions could not take the lead as Wesleyan took the first game by two points.
Set 2
The Mountain Lions quickly rebounded from a tough first set as it raced out to a 16-4 lead. Steele had five kills during the early part of the second set while senior middle hitter

Peyton Wiseman each had three kills. WVWC closed the gap to 17-14 and 19-17, but CU held a further surge to even the match at 1-1.
Set 3
The teams battled back and forth early in a pivotal third set before Wesleyan grabbed a 13-10 lead. CU slowly chipped away and tied the set at 16-16 after a Bobcats' attack error. The Mountain Lions tied the set once more, 19-19, before WVWC scored the final six points of the set.
Set 4
WVWC held the edge until the Mountain Lions rallied from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game at 11-11. The spurt continued as Concord held a 15-13 lead. Wesleyan fought off the CU run and took its own lead of 20-18 on its way to a six-point win.
Match Stats
Steele recorded 14 kills to go with nine digs and six total blocks. Herron came up with 10 kills and seven total blocks. As a team, the Mountain Lions posted a season-best 12 total blocks. Senior setter
Imani Rodgers racked up 34 assists to go with a double-double of 13 digs. Senior defensive specialist
Kelli Ellison notched 14 digs.
