ATHENS, W.Va. – Throughout the fall semester, the Concord University Sports Information Department will be looking back at different events and games that has shaped Concord Athletics to what it is today in a "On This Day" segment.
On this day in 2015, the Concord University men's basketball team erased a late 11-point deficit to down Charleston, 69-66, at the Carter Center in a Mountain East Conference game.
The comeback culminated with
Rob Reed hitting a step-back three-pointer just before the second-half buzzer sounded.
Down 11 with just under seven minutes left to go, Concord scored the next 10 points to get within 63-62 with 2:51 remaining in regulation. UC canned a three-pointer to get the lead to 66-62. However, a layup by
Terry Hopewell and a jumper by Reed tied the game at 66-66 with 43 seconds remaining.
After a defensive stop from Concord, and a rebound from Reed, the South Bend, Indiana native took control of the offense. Winding down the clock, Reed found space and a hit a triple to lift the Mountain Lions to a three-point win. The final bucket gave Reed 25 points on the night.
Hopewell finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Aaron Miller and
Jametrius Wade each pumped in 12 points.
