RECORDS
CU has won three of four games to start the spring semester to improve to 11-4 overall and 8-2 in the MEC.
Charleston has lost two straight games, but is still 12-4 on the year and 7-3 versus MEC foes.
Glenville State sports a mark of 12-4 overall and is 8-2 against the league.
DEFENSE LIVES HERE
In wins over Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan, the Mountain Lions held both teams to 30 percent or less shooting including limiting D&E to 22.2 percent (14-for-63) from the floor in the contest. The games last week marked the sixth time in 2019-20 Concord has held an opponent to 30 percent or less from the field. Because of its lockdown defense over the last week, Concord is ranked 23
rd in Division II in field-goal percentage defense (34.7 percent). In the final three quarters of Saturday's win, the Maroon and Gray limited the Senators to 8-for-51 (15.6 percent) shooting.
MILESTONE MOMENT
Junior forward
Riley Fitzwater tallied 1,000 points on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan as she became the 18
th player in program history to reach the milestone. And by scoring 18 points in a Concord win over D&E, Fitzwater ranks 17
th in program history in points. Additionally, with nine blocks on Saturday, the Glenville, West Virginia native is now one of three active NCAA women's basketball players—regardless of Division—with 300 career blocks. Meanwhile, senior forward
Madison May inched closer to 1,500 career points as she needs 48 points to get to 1,500 after 35 points across two games last week.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
Concord passed out 18 assists on 31 made field goals against Davis & Elkins as May finished one shy of her career best with seven assists. Concord has assisted on 55 percent of its made shots this season—241 assists on 436 field goals, the second-highest percentage in the MEC behind Urbana's 57 percent assist rate. On Saturday all five CU starters finished in double figures, including freshman guard
Jazz Blankenship going for a career-best 12 points. The Maroon and Gray has had five players score 10 or more points three times with the other two occurrences coming at West Virginia State and versus Lock Haven.
BUCKLE UP
The next four games for the Mountain Lions will be arguably the toughest four-game stretch of the season. After facing Charleston and Glenville State on the road, CU makes its longest road trip of the season to current MEC leader, 15-1 Notre Dame before hosting 10-6 Urbana February 1 at the Carter Center. It will mark the first time since February 12-23, 2011 that the Mountain Lions face four consecutive teams that have a winning record while Concord also has a record above .500.
STEALING THE SHOW
CU matches up against two teams in Charleston and Glenville State that thrive on creating steals and turnovers. Glenville State leads the MEC and is tied for fourth nationally with 14.4 steals per game. UC is coming up with 10.8 steals per game as guard Brooklyn Pannell leads the conference with 3.3 steals per contest. Along with being stingy in field goal defense against Davis & Elkins, Concord came up with 11 steals against the Senators for its second highest total of the season. Freshman guard
Ashton Funderburg had a career-best four steals while Blankenship and sophomore guard
Gracie Robinson each had two steals. In her last seven games, Robinson has multiple steals in five contests.
CHANGE OF PACE
Concord and Charleston are the two best teams in the MEC in field goal defense as Charleston limits opponents to 38.6 percent, but earlier this season the Mountain Lions shot 46.6 percent from the floor in an overtime win over the Golden Eagles including Fitzwater going 9-of-11 from the floor. However, CU turned it over 19 times against Charleston to offset the Maroon and Gray holding Charleston to 32.1 percent shooting. Meanwhile, Sunday's game will feature two top 11 scoring offenses in Division II. GSC is the only team in Division II averaging over 100 points (108.6) while Concord is 11
th at 80.7 points per game.

CHARLESTON AT A GLANCE
The Golden Eagles have played in three overtime games this season as one of their recent losses was an overtime road loss at Urbana. Before being downed by Urbana and Notre Dame, Charleston had won nine straight games with eight coming by double digits. Anna Hayton is the leading scorer for Charleston at 19.0 points per game, but was limited to 11 points and four rebounds at CU. Pannell drops in 15.7 points per game and sharpshooter Dakota Reeves is averaging 11.0 points per game. Reeves has made 51 three-pointers this season and is shooting 44.7 percent from beyond the arc. Earlier this season, Reeves made 10 triples in a game at Wheeling.
GLENVILLE STATE AT A GLANCE
Since a loss to Fairmont State right before Christmas, GSC has ripped off six straight wins with five coming by at least 25 points. The Pioneers have 11 different players averaging 11 minutes per game. Reigning MEC Freshman of the year Re'Shawna Stone along with Zakiyah Winfield are both averaging 18.4 points per game to lead Glenville State. Winfield's 63.2 percent shooting trails only CU's Fitzwater (70.3 percent) for the MEC lead. Emily Stoller is scoring 16.4 points per game and has knocked in 58 three-pointers on the year. The Pioneers are a perfect 7-0 at home this season with their closest challenge being Urbana in a 105-81 win.
