BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Concord University women's cross country team was seventh to open the season at the Hokie Invite hosted by Virginia Tech Friday night.
CU totaled 205 points and was the third non-Division I school at the meet.
Freshman
Gretchen Mills led the way for the Mountain Lions with a 45
th-place showing and a time of 16:15 for 4,000-meters. Senior
Aidan Payton finished 60
th in a time of 17:27. Junior
Kate Golinsky was five places behind Payton as she stopped the clock at 18:07.
Sophomore
Kyla Marshall ran 18:20 to finish 67
th, and fellow sophomore
Lindsey Cummings was two spots back of Marshall in a time of 18:49. Cummings rounded out the scoring runners for Concord.
Junior
Josea Smith clocked a time of 20:07 while sophomores
Briana Parsons and
Brittany Vaught ran a time of 20:33 and 20:46, respectively. Sophomore
Jada Strachan stopped the timer at 22:06. Sophomore
Jerell Strachan clocked 23:24.
The next meet for the Mountain Lions will be the Roanoke College Invite September 14.
