ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team won its fifth straight game to begin the season as CU grabbed a 1-0 win against Davis & Elkins to start Mountain East Conference Saturday afternoon at Nuttall Field.
The Mountain Lions (5-0, 1-0 MEC) had a decisive advantage in both total shots (24-7) and shots on goal (12-4), but the game's lone score was in the 14

Courtney Wallace recorded her second goal of the season.
Wallace was able to dribble down the left side of the penalty area and slotted a shot inside the far post to put Concord up 1-0. For the remainder of the half, CU had four shot totals with two being on frame, but the Mountain Lions settled for the 1-0 halftime lead.

thminutes, Concord peppered the goal with four shots on target—including two from junior midfielder
Yasmin Mosby—but Davis & Elkins (2-2, 1-1 MEC) goalkeeper Katie Clarke saved each attempt.
Even with the Senators trying to tie the contest, junior goalkeeper
Katie Maher was forced to make just one save in the final 20 minutes of the game and had four total saves on the day. Davis & Elkins did put pressure on CU late with a corner kick and subsequent shot in the last minute of the game, but the shot was high of the goal.
Freshman midfielder
Rachel Bell had eight total shots in the game with five coming on goal. Three of the four shots for Mosby were on target. Maher recorded her second solo shutout of the season by making the four saves.
CU continues MEC play 7:00 p.m. Wednesday with a game at West Virginia Wesleyan.
