ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University women's soccer team stymied King on its way to a 2-0 win Tuesday afternoon in the home opener for the Mountain Lions at Anderson Field.
CU (4-0) used two first-half goals and outshot the Tornado (1-2) 29-4 in the game.
The Mountain Lions peppered the goal early in the contest, but did not find the back of the net until the 10
th shot of the game which came in the 21
st minute. Freshman forward
Rachel Bell tallied her seventh goal of the season on an assist from sophomore forward
Leah Foster.
Foster tried to pass the ball to Bell initially just outside the 18-yard box. A deflection brought the ball back to Foster who dribbled in and dished the ball once against to Bell who finished inside the right post for the goal.
The second Mountain Lions' goal came off of a corner kick. Senior midfielder
Ali Cook, who had just entered the game in the 32
nd minute, served the corner to the near post. The ball deflected off of a junior midfielder
Elisha Robinson for her first goal of the season to double the CU lead in the 33
rd minute.
After 14 shots in the first half, Concord had 15 more shots in the second half, but King's defense kept the game at 2-0 for the remainder of the contest as the Mountain Lions won their fourth straight game to begin the season.

Leah Marsh each played 45 minutes as each made a save in the contest to preserve CU's shutout in the game.

Yasmin Mosby added seven more.
Concord opens up Mountain East Conference play 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Davis & Elkins.
