ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Concord Classic as it dropped a five-set thriller to WVU Tech, but bounced back to sweep Limestone in the final match of the two-day event.Â

The Mountain Lions are now 2-5 on the season.

Match 1: WVU Tech 3 – Concord 2 (25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 23-25, 15-13)
Concord's late rally came up a just a little short as the Golden Bears survived the fury in five sets.Â

After dropping the first two sets, CU scrapped its way to wins in the third and fourth sets as they were outhit by the WVU Tech in both games including only hitting .083 compared to the Golden Bears' .269 in the fourth game. Additionally, the Mountain Lions had to fight off a late rally by WVU Tech in the fourth game as it was looking to close out Concord in four games.Â

In the fifth set, both teams went back and forth before the Golden Bears were able to edge Concord by two points.Â

Sophomore right side
Camryn Huber had a team-best 15 kills to go with six digs and five blocks. Freshman middle hitter
Amber Hall added 12 kills. Huber's 15 kills were a career best.Â

Senior setter
Jenna Mounts finished three assists shy of tying her career high with 30 assists. Sophomore setter
Imani Rodgers added 21 assists.Â

Senior defensive specialist
Erin Shannon notched 22 digs while junior outside hitter
Kirsti Pouncy just missed a double-double with eight kills and 14 digs.Â

Match 2: Concord 3 – Limestone 0(29-27, 25-21, 25-19)
CU carried the momentum of a thrilling first-set win over to the second and third games as the Mountain Lions swept Limestone to conclude the Concord Classic.Â

Concord had a 24-21 lead in the first set before the Saints came back to tie the game at 24-24. From there, both teams traded points until the Maroon and Gray scored the final two to take the first game.Â

CU jumped out to 4-0 leads in each of the final two sets and held off multiple Saints' rallies to earn the sweep. Coming into Friday's finale, Limestone had dropped just one set in the previous two matches inside the Carter Center.

Hall had 11 kills in 15 attempts without an error. Huber had eight kills in 10 swings. Sophomore outside hitter
Peyton Wiseman added six kills.Â

Mounts went 19 more assists in the nightcap. '
