ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team fought off Ohio Valley for a five-set win Thursday at the Carter Center to open up the Concord Classic.
CU (1-4) outlasted the Fighting Scot (2-1) in the first set to take the game, 27-25. However, OVU won the second and third games, 25-11 and 25-18, to open up a 2-1 lead in the match.
Facing elimination, Concord rallied back to win the fourth set 25-22, forcing a decisive fifth set. The Maroon and Gray used the fourth-game victory momentum to score the first five points of the fifth game. Ohio Valley came back with three consecutive points, but the Mountain Lions stopped the OVU run and opened up an 8-3 lead on their way to a 15-12 victory in the final set.

Hailey Buchanan added eight more kills with sophomore right side
Camryn Huber chipping in seven kills and a team-best six total blocks (three solo, three assists).

Jenna Mounts went for 19 assists while sophomore setter
Imani Rodgers added 15 assists. Senior defensive specialist
Erin Shannon had 14 digs. Junior outside hitter
Kirsti Pouncy tallied 10 digs to go with six kills.
The Mountain Lions are back in action Friday at the Concord Classic against WVU Tech at 1:30 p.m. and Limestone at 5:30 p.m.
