WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Concord University men's soccer team scored two goals two minutes apart as it downed West Liberty, 2-0, Wednesday night in a Mountain East Conference game at West Family Complex.
CU (2-0-1, 1-0-1 MEC) controlled the pace early as it outshot West Liberty (0-1, 0-1 MEC) 4-2 over the first 20 minutes. And continued to apply the pressure with three more shots in the next 10 minutes—two of which were on target. Concord was able to break the deadlock in the 31
st minute though.

Bruno Baptista notched his first goal of the season from the same area Shelor buried his score as he headed in a Skerritt free kick. In the next seven minutes, Concord registered three more shots, but settled for a 2-0 halftime lead.
It wasn't until late in the second half that the Hilltoppers began to pressure the CU defense. From the 83

th minutes, WLU recorded four shots, but all of those were off target as Concord went on to win by two goals.
Junior goalkeeper
Kyle Brown was forced to make two saves as he extended his shutout streak to 290 minutes to start the season and 328 minutes dating back to last season.
Concord had 14 shots to West Liberty's 10 while also holding a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
The Mountain Lions return home to host Davis & Elkins 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Anderson Field.
