ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University softball team takes on Fairmont State 12:00 p.m. Saturday for a Mountain East Conference doubleheader and will also face Shepherd 1:00 p.m. Tuesday for another MEC doubleheader at the CU Softball Field.

RECORDS
The Mountain Lions begin the weekend 23-16 overall and 11-9 MEC.
Fairmont State are 19-15 overall and 13-7 in the Mountain East.
Shepherd is nationally ranked, checking in at 24 in the NFCA Poll, by being 30-6 overall and 18-2 in the MEC.
 
BREAKING OUT THE RECORDS
Sophomore pitcher 
Cartney Schoolcraft recorded her 100
th strikeout of the season against UVa.-Wise Wednesday evening. Schoolcraft is now the fourth player in the program to ever reach the accomplishment in a single season. The last time this was recorded was by 
Allie Reid in 2014. Freshman pitcher/outfielder 
Laura Thompson has a total of 42 runs for the season. With the 42 runs scored, Thompson ranks third in single season history. Additionally, Thompson's on-base percentage is first in the Mountain East Conference at .514. Junior utility 
Jenna Witt currently has 54 hits, which puts her just three hits short from entering the Top Ten in single season history. Witt has passed her own high RBI from last season of 29 by having 31 during this season. Witt's 64 hits from 2018 rank in a tie for third in single season program history.
HOT STRETCH
Sophomore utility 
Skylar Jenkins has started the last six straight games. During the stretch, Jenkins has six of her eight RBI of the season, including two against UVa.-Wise on Wednesday evening. Jenkins also had three RBI in an 8-2 win at Wheeling Jesuit Sunday. Additionally, Jenkins has combined for six hits over the last six games giving her 14 total hits for the 2019 season.
WE'VE GOT THE OFFENSE
Concord has scored 10 or more runs for the fifth time this season, including 10 against UVa.-Wise Wednesday which marked the first time in conference play Concord has scored 10 or more runs in a game. Over the last three seasons combined (2016-2018), CU only scored 10 or more runs just three times. The eight runs Concord scored in the fifth inning in game two against UVa.-Wise was the second highest scoring inning of the season for CU behind a nine run outburst against Bluefield State on March 19.
PUTTING UP ZEROS
In two of the last three games, the Mountain Lions have pitched shutouts, a 5-0 win at Wheeling Jesuit and 10-0 victory against UVa.-Wise.  Junior pitcher/outfielder 
Darby Fitzpatrick got her fifth career shutout at Wheeling Jesuit, which ties her for fifth all time for career shutouts. Schoolcraft's shutout on Wednesday was her first career shutout. In the performance, Schoolcraft lowered her ERA from 2.89 to 2.73. Sophomore pitcher 
Tara Williams also has two shutouts this season. CU's total of shutouts of five is tied for third with Fairmont State and Notre Dame in MEC.
FAIRMONT STATE AT A GLANCE
Hannah Absalom is ranked third in the MEC for her ERA of 1.34. With 17 appearances, Abaslom has collected 12 wins. She is ranked fourth in the conference for only allowing 43 hits for the season. Fairmont State's Jenny Stubbs has scored a total of 19 runs with a batting average of .337 and a slugging percentage of .516. FSU is 7-3 in true road games this year.
SHEPHERD AT A GLANCE
Taylor Stocks of Shepherd is ranked number one in the MEC for her ERA of 1.28, followed by her fellow teammate Lori Sturgill with an ERA of 1.32. Stocks has struck out 117 batters, which is 13 more than any pitcher in the conference. Additionally, Stocks has started 14 games and has won a total of 13 games. Connor Gilligan has a team-best 24 RBI which ranks in a tie for eighth in the MEC. The Rams have won 23 of their last 24 games entering the weekend.
