ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team welcomes West Virginia Wesleyan for a four-game Mountain East Conference series 1:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Anderson Field.

RECORDS
Concord is 19-9 overall this season after a 15-2 win over Bluefield State. CU is 9-7 against MEC foes.
WVWC sports a record of 14-20 overall and is 7-9 in MEC play.
RECORDS ON THE LINE
With a win on Saturday, head coach
Kevin Garrett would earn his 450
th career win. Only West Virginia Wesleyan's Randy Tenney has more career wins among league coaches than Garrett. Additionally a victory on Saturday would give the Mountain Lions their 20
th win of the season. CU has posted 20 or more wins in 16 consecutive seasons and only West Virginia State has a longer streak of 35 straight seasons with at least 20 wins. Elsewhere in the Concord record books, senior outfielder
Evan Webb entered the top 10 in career walks at CU as he now has 62 free passes over the last three seasons.
LEADING THE WAY
With their 15-2 win over Bluefield State, the Mountain Lions moved into a tie for first in the MEC in team batting average (.335) by pounding out 18 hits in the contest. It marked the 15
th time in 28 games that the Maroon and Gray had at least 10 hits in a game this season. Junior infielder
Nathan Neff led the way by tying his career best of four hits set previously on March 17, 2017 against Wheeling Jesuit. Junior outfielder
Ryan Fralin continued his strong play as he collected three hits and two RBI. Since the beginning of the month, the Roanoke, Virginia native is batting .521 (12-for-23) with seven RBI in a span of seven games. Webb also carries a hot bat into the weekend as he has four multi-hit games in his last seven contests and has driven in 13 runs.

Trent Abernathy and sophomore pitcher
Logan Morrison contained West Virginia State in games three and four of last weekend's series as CU earned a series split. The duo combined to pitch 11.1 innings with four earned runs and 10 strikeouts. For Morrison, it was his first win since March 17 at Wheeling Jesuit. And Sunday marked the longest start of the season for Abernathy, who hadn't pitched into the seventh inning since a complete game at UVa.-Wise May 4, 2018.
SLAM IT OUT
Senior catcher
Jordan Clark has hit grand slams in back-to-back seasons against West Virginia Wesleyan and has three in his career including one at Glenville State two seasons ago. The Scott Depot, West Virginia native clocked a grand slam at WVWC in an 11-3 CU win in 2018, but his other two grand slams have come in Concord losses. Overall, Clark is hitting .416 (15-for-36) with two home runs, 21 RBI, four doubles and a triple in his career against the Bobcats.
THE RIGHT TIME
Last season at West Virginia Wesleyan, the Mountain Lions hit .472 with runners in scoring position (17-for-36) and are coming off an 11-for-26 (.423) effort with runners in scoring position against Bluefield State. Last season at WVWC, junior outfielder
Adam Linkous was 3-for-4 with runners in scoring position while Webb was 2-for-5. On Thursday, Fralin was 3-for-4 and Neff was 2-for-3.
WEST VIRGINAI WESLEYAN AT A GLANCE
The Bobcats came into last weekend tied with Concord for fourth in the MEC South Division, but were swept in a four-game series against Charleston. West Virginia Wesleyan had won six of its last eight games before the four-game losing skid versus UC. Eric Forbrick leads Wesleyan in average (.357) and RBI (20) and is tied for the team lead in home runs (three). The Bobcats have a team ERA of 6.11, but freshman Michael Maiolo is 3-2 with an ERA of 2.34 and has struck out 35 batters in 34.1 innings.
