ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University baseball team opens up the 2019 home schedule when it hosts Ohio Valley for a doubleheader Sunday and a single game Monday.

Concord is 2-1 this season after winning the final two games of the MEC-PSAC Mixer in Glenville, West Virginia.
Ohio Valley comes to Athens searching for its first win of the season as it is 0-8.
SIT EM DOWN
The Mountain Lions pitching staff combined for 38 strikeouts in the first three contests of the season. Senior pitcher
Troy Beckner and sophomore pitcher
Logan Morrison had 11 and 10 strikeouts, respectively, in their starts against Mansfield and Clarion. For Morrison, it was a career best in strikeouts. Meanwhile, Beckner earned Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week for efforts. Senior pitcher
Will Guay had eight strikeouts in the first game of the season against Mansfield. It marked the first time the CU pitching staff had 10 or more strikeouts in three straight since last season in two games against Ohio Valley and one versus Lake Erie.
GOING BIG
Concord was able to defeat Clarion, 11-7, thanks in part to a nine-run sixth inning as it erased a 4-0 deficit. Senior catcher

Jakob Divers were responsible for driving in two runs each during the frame. Clark had three RBI over last weekend which gives him 153 for his career and moves him to within three more of passing Donovan Huffer for seventh in all-time RBI at CU. Meanwhile, Concord's nine-run inning was the eighth time since the start of the 2017 season that Concord has posted seven runs or more in an inning.
GOING DEEP
In Saturday's 6-1 win over Mansfield, junior outfielder
Adam Linkous provided some insurance late in the game with his first career home run. It was the only home run in the three games for the Mountain Lions. And doubles from Divers, junior infielder
Nathan Neff, senior infielder
Brett Simmons and senior infielder
Ian Southcott marked the only extra-base hits besides Linkous' home run.
FINDING A WAY ON

Evan Webb made up the first three batters of the CU lineup. The trio combined to draw 16 walks with Stehlin accounting for seven. In 48 plate appearances last season, Stehlin had just seven walks. Simmons drew four walks last weekend after drawing 10 walks last season.
LOOKING FOR A Â SERIES WIN
Last season, Concord matched up with Ohio Valley three. The two sides played a doubleheader in the early part of March with the Fighting Scots winning both games. CU won a single nine-inning game on April 25 to avoid a season sweep. Divers hit his first career home run in the 6-2 win in April while also driving in three runs. Junior pitcher
Bryson Booher started the game and tossed three innings while only allowing one hit and striking out three batters.

Of the eight losses for OVU, four have come have by three runs or less including a pair of one-run defeats against California (Pa.) on March 2.
