EFFICENT OFFENSE
The Mountain Lions shot a season-high 61.1 percent (44-for-72) as it fell to Glenville State, 117-107, last Wednesday at home. CU kept its hot shooting streak going into the weekend in the win over WVWC as Concord recorded a field-goal percentage of 51.9 percent (28-for-54). It marked the ninth time in 20 games that Concord has shot at least 50 percent from the field this season. Because of the razor-sharp offensive numbers, the Mountain Lions are ranked sixth in Division II in field goal percentage (48.0) and sits eighth in points per game nationally (81.8). Sophomore forward
Riley Fitzwater continues to lead Division II in field goal percentage (70.2) and has a five-point lead on Lewis' Jessica Kelliher for the national lead. Senior guard
Andreanna Pool also helped out CU's field goal percentage numbers last week as she shot 71.4 percent (15-for-21) from the field and 63.6 percent (7-for-11) from the three-point distance.
RECORD WATCH
A few milestones have the potential to be reached this weekend for the program. First of all, head coach
Kenny Osborne needs one win to reach 250 career wins in his time at Concord. After scoring a total of 42 points versus Glenville State and Wesleyan, junior forward
Madison May needs 33 points to reach 1,000 for her career. She would become the 17
th player in program history to reach the mark. Elsewhere, Fitzwater has 198 career blocks. Additionally, Fitzwater is just 27 blocks away from surpassing 2017 CU Hall of Fame inductee
Jolysa Brown for the all-time blocks record at Concord.
SHARING IS CARING
CU rolled up 22 assists in its win over West Virginia Wesleyan, which was the second-highest mark of the season. Pool just missed her first career double-double as she tallied 21 points and nine assists. May added six assists in the road victory. The Mountain Lions were nearly as impressive sharing the ball against Glenville State with 19 assists. Senior guard
Emily Boothe tallied eight assists as she flirted with a triple-double of 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Heading into play this weekend, Concord is ranked 22
nd in Division II in assists per game (16.3).
REBOUNDING GUARDS
Ahead of play this week, the Mountain Lions have the best rebounding margin in the MEC (+5.6). While Fitzwater and May both rank in the top five in the league in rebounds per game, a big reason CU is atop the rebounding ranks is Boothe. The Riner, Virginia native is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. Over the last nine games, Boothe has grabbed at least seven rebounds and tallied a career-best 11 versus Fairmont State in that stretch. Of players listed 5-foot-7 or shorter in the MEC, Boothe ranks second in rebounds per game behind Shepherd's Kari Lankford.
