ATHENS, W.Va. - The Concord University women's basketball team concludes the 2019 calendar year when it steps outside of Mountain East Conference play to take on Salem 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in a non-conference clash at Davis Gymnasium in Salem, West Virginia.

RECORDS
The Mountain Lions are 7-3 this after a convincing 82-55 win over Frostburg State.
Salem is 2-8 in 2019-20 as it has lost five of its last six games with the lone win coming over Virginia State, 92-86, December 7.
50/50 SHOT
In the win over Frostburg State, Concord made 57.1 percent of its shots (24-for-42). It marked the fourth time this season the Mountain Lions have eclipsed the 50-percent mark from the field in a game. Senior forward
Madison May led the way by going 6-for-10 from the floor. Sophomore guard
Maggie Guynn was 5-for-7 from the field including knocking in all three three-point attempts. Junior forward
Riley Fitzwater hit on 4-of-5 shots while junior guard
Keely Lundy was 3-for-6 from three-point range for her nine points. CU is fifth in Division II in field-goal percentage at 50.1 this season. Additionally, Concord's 85.0 points per game are fifth in the country.
MARCH TO THE LINE
Part of CU's success against Frostburg State was the Mountain Lions getting to the foul line a season-high 39 times where they knocked in 26 free throws, also a season best. May finished the game 12-for-13 from the foul line was freshman guard
Ashton Funderburg and sophomore guard
Gracie Robinson were each 3-for-4 at the charity stripe. Led by Guynn (57 attempts) and May (87 attempts), Concord is third in Division II in free throws attempted this season with 272. The 180 made foul shots are sixth nationally. May's 69 made free throws are two better than Lake Erie's Josie Chaddock for the Division II lead. And her 87 attempts are four more than Chasidee Owens of Missouri Southern State for most in Division II.
EXTRA POSSESSIONS
The Mountain Lions created 23 turnovers in the contest as they came up with 14 steals versus Frostburg State. The 23 turnovers were the most for the Maroon and Gray since forcing 23 at Charleston in an overtime win last season while the 14 steals were a season-best and the most since the same game against UC in January 2019. The steals were equally accounted for as freshman guards
Sasha Bates and
Jazz Blankenship, Guynn, May and Robinson each had two steals. Over her last two games, Robinson has collected five of her eight steals for the season. Meanwhile, Salem is forcing 21 turnovers per game this season and coming away with 11.3 steals per contest.
ELITE COMPANY
With eight points against Frostburg State, Fitzwater closed to within 51 points of her 1,000 for her career. She would become the 18
th player in program history to surpass the milestone. The Glenville, West Virginia native is closing in on 300 blocks for her career with 285. Only two other active NCAA women's basketball players—regardless of Division—have 300 career blocks. For May, she climbed into the top 20 in active scoring in Division II. Her 1,361 points are 19
th nationally. Additionally, with one more assist May would become the only player in program history with 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds and 250 career assists.
SALEM SERIES
Concord leads the all-time series over Salem, 10-8, by virtue of wins the last two seasons over the Tigers. CU won on the road 81-61 during the 2017-18 season before taking home a 90-73 win January 3, 2019 at the Carter Center. In last season's win, the Mountain Lions shot 57.1 percent—the same exact shooting number in the win over Frostburg State. May tallied 25 points and eight rebounds while Fitzwater added 19 points and another nine boards. Guynn (14 points) and junior forward
Tamra Scott (12) combined for 26 points off the bench. Fitzwater is averaging a double-double of 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in her career against Salem. May sports a career line of 18.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in two games against the Tigers.

SALEM AT A GLANCE
Before a win over Virginia State, the Tigers snapped a six-game losing streak. Salem's only other win came in the season opener, 118-70, over Miami University at Hamilton. Nia Bishop leads SU in scoring at 17.4 points per game, and she's joined in double figures by Daniela Quesada who drops in 10.2 points per game. The Tigers have 11 players that average at least 12 minutes played per game. Salem averages nearly 10 made three-pointers per game (9.6), but only shoot 31.5 percent from beyond the arc.
