ELKINS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team had its three-match win streak snapped at Davis & Elkins as the Senators picked up a sweep (25-18, 25-17, 25-14) Saturday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action at the McConnell Center.
The Mountain Lions (9-16, 4-7 MEC) were held to a .048 hitting percentage. In the first two sets, CU held Davis & Elkins (15-7, 8-3 MEC) to under .200 hitting.
Concord jumped out a 6-4 lead in the first game, but was unable to hang onto the lead as the Senators took a 12-10 advantage. From there, CU could not tie the set before D&E went up 19-13.
Tied at 7-7 in the second game after a solo block by sophomore middle hitter
Sheridan Herron, Concord watched the Senators go on an 11-0 run to go up 2-0 in the match. Locked up at 7-7 in the third game after a kill from freshman outside hitter
Hailey Buchanan, Concord was able to answer Davis & Elkins' min-run that saw it go up 11-7. The closest CU got for the remainder of the match was three points.
