ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team was swept by 15
th-ranked Wheeling in three sets (25-20, 25-14, 25-14) Friday night in Mountain East Conference play at the Carter Center.
After the Cardinals (27-3, 15-0 MEC) jumped out to a 7-1 lead to start the match, Concord (10-20, 4-11 MEC) went on an 8-4 run to trim the deficit to 11-9 after a Wheeling attack error. Included in the run was a kill each from freshman middle hitter

Erin Shannon also registered a service ace.
Concord was able to hang tight with WU as it did not trail by more than five points until Wheeling opened up a 20-14 lead before it went on to win by five points in the opening set. Â
Wheeling jumped out 4-0 lead in the second game, but Concord ripped off five of the next six points as senior right side

Sheridan Herron each had a kill. WU, though, scored the next three points in the set as the Mountain Lions were forced to chase the rest of the set.
The Cardinals scored the first six points of the third game as they took the set by 11 points.
Herron finished with a team-high seven kills to go with three blocks. Hall added six kills and six blocks.

Imani Rodgers tallied 10 assists while senior setter
Jenna Mounts notched eight assists.
On Senior Night, Bethel, Mounts and Shannon were recognized prior to the game.
Concord concludes the regular season 9:00 a.m. Saturday against West Liberty.
