Concord Finishes Fifth, Two Named All-Region

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshman Nate Leichner and sophomore Isaac Prather earned All-Atlantic Region as the Concord University men's cross country team finished fifth Saturday morning at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship on the West Branch Cross Country Course.

CU scored 174 points in the meet. Charleston, Edinboro and Davis & Elkins were the advancing teams from the region to the NCAA National Championship.

Prather crossed in seventh place in a time of 31:58 for the 10,00-meter course to be selected to the all-region team for the first time in his career. Coming off winning MEC Freshman of the Year, Leichner came through in 32:28 to finish 19th.

Sophomore Cedric Drennen was 43rd as he crossed in 33:04. Junior Samuel Haynes was six spots behind as he stopped the clock at 33:16. Concord's final scoring runner was junior Andrew Barbera who finished 68th in a time of 33:40.

Junior Samuel Thomas placed 76th in 33:53. Running in his career first regional meet, senior Cooper Brady ran 35:14.

Prather missed qualifying individual for the national meet by three spots, but based on his regular season performances in addition to his race Saturday Prather has a shot at the NCAA Championship. An official announcement will be made Monday afternoon.
