BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Concord University men's cross country team placed fifth among Division II teams in the Paul Short Brown Race Saturday afternoon at Lehigh University.
The Mountain Lions were ahead of other regionally-ranked foes Lock Haven and Shippensburg. Entering the weekend, Lock Haven was ranked third in the coaches' regional poll.
CU was 33
rd in the overall race at Lehigh.
Sophomore
Cedric Drennen and freshman
Nate Leichner each ran 25:50 to finish in the top 125 runners of a 390-athlete field.
Junior
Samuel Haynes followed closely behind in a time of 26:07. Sophomore
Isaac Prather crossed in 26:28 while junior
Samuel Thomas completed the CU scoring runners as he followed in 26:33.
Fellow junior
Andrew Barbera broke the 27-minute barrier as he clocked a time of 26:55. Freshmen
Alex Watty (28:14) and
Jacob Lindsay (28:20) were the seventh and eighth runners for Concord. Senior
Cooper Brady went under 29 minutes as he finished in 28:58.
The Mountain Lions will have a week off next weekend before hosting the Concord Alumni Meet at Pipestem State Park October 18. Â
