Concord Rolls By Glenville State, 6-0

ATHENS, W.Va. – Freshman forward Rachel Bell tallied her second hat trick of the season, and the Concord University women's soccer team won 6-0 over Glenville State Thursday afternoon in a Mountain East Conference game at Anderson Field.

Bell's first goal of the game was the lone score for the Mountain Lions (7-1, 3-1 MEC) in the first half as she received a pass from sophomore defender Leigh Wightman and pushed a shot into the back of the net in the 23rd minute.

Despite having 12 shots in the first half, the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

CU came up with five goals in the second half including three in less than two minutes. Bell doubled the Concord lead in the 49th minute as freshman midfielder Michelle Brogden chipped a pass over the GSC (2-6, 0-4 MEC) defense where Bell beat the keeper.

Concord was able to really separate itself from the Pioneers in the 55th minute. Brogden scored off a corner kick before Bell put back a rebound on an initial blocked shot 46 seconds later. Just 64 seconds after Bell finished off her hat trick, sophomore forward Olivia Medieros poked  home her third goal of the season to extend the lead to 5-0.

Freshman defender Zoe Belding joined Brogden as Mountain Lions to score their first collegiate goal of the afternoon as she scored in the 60th minute on an assist from junior midfielder Mira Kontio. Belding's goal concluded the scoring for Concord.

Sophomore goalkeeper Leah Marsh recorded her second solo shutout of the season as she saw just three shots, but none on goal. Concord outshot Glenville State 36-3 on the day.

CU hosts Charleston 1:00 p.m. October 9 at Anderson Field.
