PIPESTEM, W.Va. – The Concord University women's cross country team placed second at the Concord Alumni Meet Friday afternoon at Pipestem Resort Park.
CU was edged by Charleston as Concord scored 35 points to Charleston's 27.
Freshman
Gretchen Mills was the top runner for the Mountain Lions as she was the runner-up with a time of 20:02. Senior
Aidan Payton was also in the top 10 as she clocked a time of 21:56 to finish eighth.
Junior
Kate Golinsky just missed a spot inside the top 10 as she placed 11
th, stopping the clock at 22:13. Sophomore
Kyla Marshall was two back of Golinsky as her 13
th-place finish was good enough for 22:42 on the timer.
Junior
Josea Smith rounded out the scoring runners for Concord as she finished 17
th with a time of 23:19. Freshman
Maggie Thompson clocked a time of 24:23 to finish 25
th .
Sophomore
Brittany Vaught was 27
th with a time of 25:24. Fellow sophomores
Jada Strachan (30
th / 25:52) and
Jerell Strachan (35
th / 26:19) completed the field for CU.
Concord races at the Mountain East Conference Championship next Saturday, October 26 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.
