ATHENS, W.Va. – The Concord University volleyball team lost a four-set match to Urbana Friday night in Mountain East Conference play inside the Carter Center.
CU (6-14, 2-5 MEC) won the first set, 25-21, but was unable to carry the momentum over as the Blue Knights (9-8, 5-1 MEC) won the next three games, 25-16, 25-13, 25-13.
The Mountain Lions used an 8-3 start to make Urbana chase the lead in the first set. Senior setter
Jenna Mounts had a service ace and kill to help start the rally. After UU closed to 11-8, Concord went another elongated run to go up 20-10. Sophomore outside hitter
Peyton Wiseman had two of her four kills during the spurt as CU was able to go up 1-0 in the match.
After hitting .351 in the opening game, Concord was limited to hitting percentages of .118, .000 and .051 over the final three games of the match. Meanwhile, Urbana hit at least .270 in the match's final three sets.
Freshman middle hitter
Amber Hall had a career-best 18 kills while hitting .382 in the contest.
Mounts just missed her second straight double-double as she notched 21 assists and nine digs. Junior defensive specialist
Lindsay Maddox chipped in 21 digs.
