Concord Loses to West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Concord University football team lost to West Liberty, 47-6, Saturday afternoon at West Family Stadium in a Mountain East Conference game. 
 
The Hilltoppers (3-3, 3-3 MEC) opened up a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead to 30-0 at halftime. 
 
Senior wide receiver Brandon Plyler caught a third-quarter touchdown from senior quarterback Kyle Akin that made the score 44-6. 
 
Akin finished the game with 187 yards passing and a touchdown, but also three interceptions. Junior wide receiver Tywan Pearce had 100 yards receiving for the second straight week as he made four receptions for 100 yards. 
 
Junior defensive back Imani Moore had a team-best seven tackles including a tackle for loss. Sophomore linebacker Tylen Fowler and junior linebacker Dwain Porterfield each had six tackles. 
 
Concord (0-6, 0-5 MEC) welcomes Fairmont State to Callaghan Stadium for Homecoming next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
